달러 환율은 "1달러를 사는 데 몇 원이 드는가"입니다. 환율이 오르면(원화가 싸지면) 수입 원료·전자제품·해외여행이 비싸지고, 시간이 지나며 장바구니 물가에도 반영됩니다. 반대로 달러로 물건을 파는 수출기업은 같은 매출도 원화로 바꾸면 더 커져 유리해집니다. 환율이 내리면 이 관계가 뒤집힙니다. 엔/원 환율은 일본 여행 경비와 직결되어 많은 분이 챙겨 보는 지표입니다.

주가지수 — 기업들의 평균 성적표

금·구리·유가 — 물가와 경기의 신호

USD/KRW answers "how many won buys one dollar." When it rises (a cheaper won), imported goods and overseas travel cost more, and consumer prices tend to follow. Exporters benefit: the same dollar sales convert to more won. When it falls, the relationship flips.

Stock indices — a report card for companies

KOSPI averages Korea's listed companies; NASDAQ tracks US tech. A rising index means those companies are broadly worth more—a thermometer for economic mood. US markets trade during Korean nighttime, so morning NASDAQ moves often set the tone for Korea's session.

VIX and rates — market thermometers

VIX measures expected short-term volatility in US stocks — below 20 is calm, above 30 signals fear. The US 10-year Treasury yield is the baseline rate for almost all assets: when it rises, borrowing costs increase and stocks and real estate face headwinds; when it falls, the reverse applies.

Gold, copper, and oil — signals of prices and economic health

Oil (WTI) seeps into nearly every price through fuel, logistics, and electricity. Gold is the classic safe haven—when it jumps, markets are nervous. Copper, nicknamed "Dr. Copper," is widely used in construction, EVs, and chips, making it a reliable leading indicator for economic activity.
